The Pops Reading Programme has been designed with the following unique
features to ensure every child can be successful, whatever their reading
ability. This design fosters achievement through success and praise in
differently abled children.
- Word Cards support each book allowing a child to match one or more
words as they appear in the text and in highlighted boxes at the bottom
of every page.
- Lotto, sentence completion and comprehension games at the back of the
book provide fun reinforcement of vocabulary learnt.
- Finding ‘Boo’ the hidden elephant in every illustration offers success
whatever a child’s reading ability.
- Each book focuses on a particular vocabulary group of everyday
language, such as food, clothes, body, colour etc

The books in this series have simple storylines with large clear print
laid out in a predictable format. The illustrations provide excellent
support to the text. Some direct speech is also used to model good
spoken language.
This series reuses over 80% of the vocabulary encountered in the Red
Elephant Series to consolidate and to revise. The books in this series
extend the format of the Red Series with more variation in sentence
structure, and more events in each story. More direct speech is used in
this series to model good spoken language.
